Creating Your Own Websites With ZERO dollars!

Different people create websites for different reasons..some people might want to create a website to showcase their travel photos..or they might want to create a blog to tell the world their thoughts..or to display their catalogues online to sell products..or even to make money online by promoting affiliate products through their websites. Whatever the reason, a virtual real estate (i.e. your website) is a very valuable asset that you can have and this is especially true for people seeking to make money online. By creating a very successful website, an internet marketer can continually earn a passive income (e.g. via Google Adsense, affiliate links) or they could even sell away their website (yes you could even buy and sell websites through websites such as Flippa)

Setting up a website can be quite a scary experience especially for people who are not technically saavy (myself included!). All those stuffs about HTML programming, domain registration, web hosting etc etc can scare off any newbie. Luckily for us, there are solutions out there that are so simple to use (you can just drag and drop and create your own website within minutes) and what's more, they are FREE!! Wow, I can't think of better deals than that!

Some of these free website builders are: Wix, Webs, Weebly, Yola, Jimdo (yes all of them are FREE!) I've even tested out and done a website using Weebly (The Money Site) and I could tell you that it is really so simple to use that any kid could do it too!

Of course the set back of using such free website builders is that we cannot choose the domain name that we want to use. Using this example, my domain name would be something like http://themoneysite.weebly.com instead of the preferred www.themoneysite.com. But then if you don't mind, then you won't have to pay the annual charges for domain names and web hosting anymore.

For those who are more adventurous and prefer to create their own websites (e.g. using FrontPage, DreamWeaver etc) and host their own websites (instead of using the free website builder platform as mentioned earlier), the first thing that you would need to do is to register your own domain names. Domain names are the names of their websites e.g. www.chocolatecakes.com, www.makemoneyonline.com (depending on the availability). There are many sites for domain name registration e.g. NameCheap, ProudDomains, GoDaddy etc and there will be an annual fee of around $9 - $20 (depending whether the domain name is .com, .org, .net etc) to maintain this domain name. Not really expensive considering you could have the domain name of your choice.

But is it also possible to get domain names for free?? Yes it is possible too and I'm not kidding! I've been searching around the internet and came across this website www.co.cc that provides free domain name registration. So using the example above, you could have your domain name as www.chocolatecakes.co.cc or www.makemoneyonline.co.cc. Although they don't sound as good as their .com counterpart, they are FREE! and I have no complains about that.

So what do you do after you get your own domain name registered? The next step would be to find a web hosting company to host your domain name and website. There are tons of web hosting companies out there if your Google it, so I won't talk about them here. And most of them would require a monthly fee to host your website.

So are there also free solutions out there for web hosting? You bet there is! Some of the free web hosting companies that I've found so far are: 000webhost, 000space, 123bemyhost..and all of them do not require any monthly fees! Of course such free web hosting companies might not be as good as paid ones such as in terms of customer service, technical support, limited hosting space etc so it's best to do some research on your own and compare before using them.

As an experiment, I've set up a blog (Investing in Gold) using www.co.cc and 123bemyhost that I described above. The WordPress software comes with the free installer in 123bemyhost.

So yes, it's definitely possible to create our own website with zero dollars. Just look in the right places and do some research. Hope this article helps you in one way or another.
